Late Shri Baijnathji Hansrajji Bhoduka

Founder, Great Grand Father
Leaving all that he had in Bhiwani, Haryana in early 1947, he came all by himself to explore Bombay and to start something on his own. Coming from a joint family that had more than 25 members living in a house and running a Ration Store, which catered to all of Bhiwani, he came to the city that was full opportunities to try his luck.
Being experienced in owning and managing a ration store, he started off with trading Pulses & Katha. Within few days he added Indian spices to his list of trading. Looking for a better and bigger business, while opening his office in Kalbadevi & Cotton Green Area under the name Baijnath Melaram, he entered into trading of chemical products, within the same year. As soon as business was good within a couple of years, Shri Baijnathji called all his relatives to establish themselves in Bombay.
Belonging from a well known family in Bhiwani, northern part of India, and having a good name in the market, attracted a lot of family members and known business men looking to buy Iron and steel products through him in Mumbai. In the early 1950’s, Shri Baijnathji, started purchasing steel products from railways and acted as commission agents for buyers from Mandi Gobindgarh. He used to actively participate in railway auctions for engines and wagons in the late 1950’s. To store all the material, a yard was purchased at Rayroad, Darukhana. He participated in several recycling contracts for railways as well as ships, on partnership basis with other companies. His first Experience in ship recycling was in early 1960’s under a JV partnership with another company. In the year 1972, he bought Baijnath Melaram’s first vessel. He was a Proud Icon in the Marwadi community as well as the Iron and Steel Fraternity. Before his demise in 1975, he had paved way for his future generations to come.

Late Shri Melaramji Baijnathji Agarwal

Born in the year 1930, Shri Melaramji Agarwal was the youngest of all the siblings. He got into business at a very early age of 17 years, to support his father and family. Being workaholic was in the blood and therefore, he took control of the business very quickly. With his help the company as able to take part in several auctions for dismantling locomotives and ships. He was a kind hearted person and a socialite. His father, Shri Baijnathji, and him, took all business decisions together.
Not only was he a part of sowing the seeds of Baijnath Melaram in the 1950’s, he had been a part of the exponential growth it has had in the past 6 decades. Shri Melaramji has been with the company for the longest time, he gave more than 65 years of his life in building a reputation of what the company carries now. He has seen all the ups and downs of a business family and after Shri Baijnathji passed away, he led the entire family under his leadership.
He had incredible entrepreneurial skills as he, very quickly, got into different businesses and would not shy away from risking money on something that he believes in. Eventually he was able to decide on a particular business that he thought would pan out to be a long- term business and stuck to it. He started his business endeavours with trading in Steel products and becoming approved & registered agents in SAIL and TATA. Soon after, he partnered with several other family run businesses to demolish locomotive engines as well as ships. In 1973, setup a rolling mill to cater to the iron and steel industry needs. He initiated the Ship recycling business in Mumbai as well as in Alang. Baijnath Melaram was only the fourth company to beach a vessel in Alang.
Ship recycling became the main business for Baijnath Melaram and Shri Melaramji saw it grow till the age of 87. He passed away in Mumbai, India alongside his entire family. He will always remain an idol for his grandchildren.

Mr. Vinod Kumar Agarwal

Managing Partner
Vinod Agarwal is a Managing Partner in Baijnath Melaram, looks after the finance and accounting department at Mumbai Head Quarters. Much needed help needed by his father in business, he got into business in 1977 while simultaneously studying for his Business Degree at Mumbai University.
He was the youngest Ship Breaker to have entered in Alang in the year 1983. All the vessels that were bought were directly bought off ship owners. Eckhardt Marine GmbH & INCOM House, London were the two companies that Mr. Vinod Kumar Agarwal usually bought vessel from directly. Once the business started operating smoothly he shifted back to Mumbai. Ship recycling activities were ongoing in Mumbai as well as Alang. Mr. Vinod Agarwal started another company, B Melaram & Sons in 1982 for trading in Iron and Steel products like wire rope, TMT Bars, Rounds, Colored Sheets, hot-rolled Coils, and cold-rolled Coils.
Under his supervision, Baijnath Melaram (BM) has recycled several Navy vessels like Frigates, Submarines, Mine Sweeper, etc. BM has seen 20 fold increases in turnover since he joined the company.
In 2014, he ventured into construction under the name GAJ Reality and bought three lands in Navi Mumbai. All the projects were completed in the year 2018 and three more projects started in same area and are planned to be completed by 2020.

Mr. Bhupendra Kumar Agarwal

Managing Partner
Bhupendra Agarwal has been a Managing partner at Baijnath Melaram since 1980. After a few years of exploring the steel industry throughout the country, he straightaway took responsibility of the entire business in Alang, Gujarat once his brother moved back to Mumbai.
His workaholic nature made him one of the highest producers of Scrap from a single yard. Through his extensive knowledge of the industry and the ships, he has been able to bring incomparable efficiency to the company. His forte in building relations with company’s suppliers as well as buyers has made him one of the most reputed, respected and valued business man in Alang. His vision has helped the future generation to grow in a sustainable direction that the company required to survive the increasing competition.
To add to the portfolio of Baijnath Melaram, he started a subsidiary company that deals in trading. With the contacts that he had built in the past 35 years, he supplies all recyclable material to companies that use waste to add value to their product. His regular customers are JSW, Welspun, Viraj Alloys, Laxcon, and many more.
Very recently, he has started trading in bigger volumes and is focusing on expanding to become one of the biggest Scrap traders & Importers in India. Bigger volumes have been planned for the Future.

Mr. Nitesh Agarwal

Managing Partner
Nitesh Agarwal is a partner at Baijnath Melaram, a ship recycling company based in India, where he has devoted 90 percent of his time developing and innovating Sustainable methods to recycle ships. He studied finance and entrepreneurship at the Kelley School of Business, Indiana University Bloomington. After which he joined Baijnath Melaram to become the 4th generation to be a part of the family-run business.
Passionate about learning, Nitesh continued his studies at Indian School of Business, Hyderabad, while still working with the firm. He is a firm believer of family values and tries to inculcate those value systems at work place as well. Besides his business, Nitesh enjoys travelling and meeting people from different cultures and backgrounds.
For the past year, Nitesh has been extensively working on developing Baijnath Melaram’s Ship Recycling facility at Alang, India and aspires to make it the Best Green ship recycling yard in the world.
He is now focusing on developing and running the newly started aluminium alloy plant with an installed capacity of 18000 MTPA.

Mr. Madhur Agarwal

Managing Partner
Madhur Agarwal is a professional with a diverse background, combining education in economics and business management with hands-on experience in an industrial sector. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Economics and Business Management from Nottingham Business School, equipping him with a strong foundation in business principles and analytical skills.
Currently, Madhur is managing operations at a ship-breaking yard, a challenging yet critical industry focused on dismantling and recycling ships at the end of their operational life. In his role, he oversees various aspects of the yard's operations, including logistics, safety, compliance, and environmental sustainability. His business acumen and understanding of economic principles allow him to effectively navigate the complexities of the ship-breaking industry, ensuring efficiency and profitability while adhering to global environmental standards.Madhur Agarwal is a professional with a diverse background, combining education in economics and business management with hands-on experience in an industrial sector.
